In late 2014, my daughter (at the time, age 13) suddenly fell ill and over a year later, was diagnosed with kidney disease, Membranous Glomerulopathy. No previous illnesses, signs, or anything. With the diagnosis, the many hospital stays, doctor visits, and the unbelievable amounts of medicine, everything changed and we had a new normal. Not only was my daughter’s internal health impacted but her physical appearance as well. The medicines she was taking to improve and maintain her illness were destroying almost everything. She went from a head full of beautiful, curly hair to barely having enough for a ponytail. Her skin was darkening, super dry, and developing scaly stretch marks all over. She also suffered from severe edema that when her skin swelled, certain areas on her legs would just burst with small openings that leaked fluid. We would just notice random wet spots in her jeans. It was the absolute worse! And although none of it changed her personality and confidence (see the pics...Thank you God!), Science and modern medicine were not doing it for me. It was at that moment, something so strong in my spirit said I needed to do something different.

So, I began to research, study, and practice holistic, natural remedies. I created different tinctures, creams, scrubs, and tea (now renowned as our best selling Kidney & Liver Detox Herbal Tea🙌🏽) for my daughter and in a very short time, her health, skin, hair, pretty much everything radically improved. The improvements were so drastic and unexpected, her nephrologist questioned what were we doing differently although he was the same person who deterred us from trying alternative medicine when previously asked. He had to reduce her daily medicine regimen from 21 pills down to 2. We no longer have those exhausting convos of dialysis and kidney transplants and we've been maintaining this ever since. So, I’m not saying it wasn’t the medicine that helped her but I am saying it wasn’t the medicine alone😏.

But the idea of holistic healing didn’t come full circle for me until 2018.
At that time in my life, I experienced a really deep, dark bout with depression out of nowhere. In that moment, I couldn’t pinpoint a single thing that could have triggered it as I thought I was living my best life (in my Lil Duval voice🎶). I had a very well-paying job, my children were good, and my love life was lit along with all the other material things I desired. Like what more could I need or want?! But I guess my way of “best” living was no longer enough for me. Covering my true emotions with unreciprocated love, emotionless sex, materialistic things, suppressing how I felt, and not speaking up for myself was no longer doing it for me, the whole me. So, I guess all those years of mishandling myself through various life experiences finally took a toll that impacted me, mentally and physically, and my soul was at a state of unrest.
Although, I typically resolve everything around me with ease, I just couldn’t “fix” me. Nothing in the physical world could solve what I was experiencing. One day, through one of my favorite hobbies, watching Avengers: Infinity War (I stan for Marvel Comics everything!), I was intrigued to learn about Chakras (energy wheels in the body) through my bae who had only seen Black Panther from the entire movie series (the nerve😒🤣). He explained that Marvel was mimicking the chakras with the infinity stones and if Thanos obtained them all, he could will the power of the Universe to use as he pleased… yeah, I know just sad when they literally talked about chakras the entire Dr. Strange movie🤦🏽♀️ and I didn’t realize it but this is what you call divine timing🧏🏽♀️! I started to google these Chakra things and immediately bought a book from Amazon to learn more. I was truly blown away. I spent the next few months educating myself and incorporating some of the new things I had learned like meditation, energy cleansing, and shadow work along with some of my old wisdom like herbal teas, tinctures, etc. into my daily living along the way. I was also inspired by a great friend, Soul Priestess (Reiki Master) who introduced me to creating my own spiritual water for cleansing and later, physically re-certified me as a Reiki Practitioner in 2021. A couple years later, I achieved Reiki Master🤲🏽.
All of this created a new way of living for me. Something that felt so real, so authentic and allowed me to live unapologetically, “imperfectly perfect” in my own way. I’m not saying that life wasn’t good before because everything that lead up to that moment played its part… they, it, and so forth helped mold me to learn and evolve in my own divine timing. But this time, it included healing. For once, I felt seen and heard. I felt loved and it was coming from within which allowed all of the genuine, external things to truly compliment me for who I was/ am. And the things, people, etc. that no longer served me were/ are being released. For the first time, I experienced holistic healing for my mind, body, and soul. God used 2 of the things that I love (Marvel and bae) to help me realize the power I had within to heal and live as I desire and write (or rewrite in some cases) my own story and I continue to do so til this day.
Now, God uses me as a vessel to help heal others from the inside out through The Spiritual Tea Company. It is a blessing to tell my story and I’m truly honored and humbled to help you tell yours whether it’s your skincare story or how you relieved your traumas through energy healing.
